This layout is for the current challenge over at the Good Grief Blog. The challenge was to get a child's perspective and record it on a layout. Holly was good enough to play along and this is the result.
The picture doesn't do this layout justice but it was the best I could do with the limited time I have today so it is what it is LOL. This was the story of the day Holly was a brick layer. That was my father's occupation and I couldn't be prouder of him.
Journaling:
When I asked Holly what she remembered most about this
day she said “I remember watching Grandpa Tom laying
brick in our backyard and asking him if I could help. He
said of course you can and he helped me put cement on a
brick then he reached in his pocket and pulled out a nickel
and placed it in the wet cement on the back of the brick
and told me that now I would never be broke. Then he
helped me lay my very first brick.” I remember watching
this sweet exchange between my father and Holly and
feeling extremely lucky that my father was so patient, kind
and loving. Holly then told me “Every time I look at that
brick I think of Grandpa Tom and how much I miss him.”

I am so happy that I recorded this memory of what turned an ordinary day into an extraordinary day in my book. It is quite true that the little things in life are the things that matter most.
Until Next time.
