It wasn't all that long ago (1987 to be exact) that I had my first baby girl. I still remember the feeling I had when they laid her in my arms for the first time and how blessed I felt. Fast forward to February 2013 when I received a call from Misty while Heather and I were out of town visiting her sister Holly to tell us the wonderful news that Misty was pregnant and going to become a mother. My heart filled with pride and joy for her. She didn't have a very easy pregnancy mostly due to morning sickness that lasted most of the time but as her belly grew so did our anticipation for the arrival of our first Grand Baby.
Misty's husband Alex already had two children when they started dating and Misty loves them like her own although she would never try and take their mother's place. She encourages them to had loving relationships with their mom's and that makes me so proud of her.
I was at work on the morning of October 21st when I received the call that Misty was in labor and they were keeping her at the hospital. I called her on my lunch to see how she was doing and she said she wanted me to come to the hospital. So without hesitation I told them at work I had to go and headed to the hospital to be with my baby girl. After being at the hospital for awhile we realized it was going to be a long night so I called work and let them know that I wouldn't be there on the 22nd either. Misty was such a trooper during the long hours that followed and into the next morning. With Alex by her side she welcomed her daughter Audryna Grace at 11:08 a.m. weighing 7 lbs exactly and 20" long. Her dad and sisters were standing right outside her hospital door so they could hear the baby's first cry.
Once she was all cleaned up it was time for her Mommy to get to hold her for the first time with Daddy standing right there next to both of them. Misty had tears of joy because she still was in awe from the fact that she had just given birth.
You can see she has dimples and that made her mommy so happy.
She has such an angels face.
She had to be placed under the lights due to having a pretty good case of jaundice.
The first time her sister and brother got to hold her. They love her so much.
And the first photo of many that I will be taking of her with her Curious George Monkey.
We are so very blessed to have her in our lives and I love being a Grandma it's the best job in town!
Until Next time
