After watching Jennifer McGuire's video on using a gel press I knew I had to try it out. This background is one of my first attempts at this fun and easy technique. After making several of them back in September, I set them aside. Yesterday while I was having lunch at work I decided to watch a couple of YouTube videos. One of the video's that was suggested for me to watch was Easy Frameless Shaker Cards by Ilda Dias. After watching the video I knew I had to try out her technique using a page protector right away and I couldn't wait to get off work.
Once I arrived home I headed straight to my craftroom and got busy working on a frameless shaker. I started digging around in my stash of previously made backgrounds and pulled this one out. Next I went into my stash of previously stamped sentiments and found this one that I really liked. Finally I went to my stamp sets to find the perfect butterfly stamp to go with it. I colored and cut out the butterfly and then it was time to assemble my card.
The great thing about an edgeless shaker is it will be easy to mail since no foam tape was needed. The shaker bits still have very nice movement to them as well.
I am usually the kind of crafter that will sit down and make a card from scratch all at one time however lately I have been making backgrounds using fun techniques and setting them aside for later. I also have been stamping images and or sentiments when I get together with my aunt. She has quite the collection of stamps and dies so it's fun to beable to use ones I don't have. The nice thing about this is when I need a card I am able to put one together really quickly. I think this card took me all of about 20 minutes to create mainly because I had to stamp, color and cut out the butterfly.
Are you the type of crafter that makes a card all at one time or do you prefer to make your cards in steps? I'd love for you to share your answer in the comments below.
