Each Year I make handmade ornaments. It's a tradition that my family really loves. I remember when I stopped making ornaments for a few years and my family informed me it was the one of the things they really missed each year. About 8 years ago I started the tradition back up.
I am sharing part of the process of making my 2020 Ornaments below and hope you enjoy.
I started by ink blending Candied Apple Disress Oxide ink on a small piece of Canson Watercolor paper.
Next I spritzed the paper with water from my Distress Sprayer and soaked up the excess with a paper towel.
I die cut the Stitched Poinsettia petals from the watercolor piece and I love the look with the distress spots on them, the leaves I cut from green cardstock and I added details with a copic marker. As you can see below it really makes a difference in the look of the leaves and gives them a little depth. Finally I cut out the center pieces from Gold Glitter cardstock and then glued them together using liquid glue.
I glued the finished flowers onto some thin wood slices and put a piece of string though them to hang them from. Most of the ornaments I only used the medium and small petals because of the size of the wood slices.
I really like the way they turned out and hope you enjoyed seeing a little of the process.
Do you make homemade ornaments if so I would love it if you would share your ideas with me.
Until Next Time
